Griffith Info

Some information and highlights to help you enjoy our great city.

We're on the Kidman Way Highway (now fully sealed from Melbourne to the Gulf of Carpentaria) and we are just 40 minutes off the Newell Highway.

We have the best Italian food in Australia. Try it and prove us wrong!

Taste some of Australia's finest wines from over 12 wineries open for tastings. Griffith produces around 70% of NSW's wine production.

There are many Must Do things and places to visit including Riverina Grove Gourmet Food Factory, Catania Fruit Salad Farm, and Pioneer Park Outdoor Historical Museum and much more.

Come and look at a city designed by Walter Burley Griffin. Pick up a copy of our free self-drive tour of the city and surrounding area from the Visitors' Centre.

Get a stunning 'birds-eye' view of irrigated farming from the Scenic Hill Lookout. Walk down to the Hermit's Cave, and see the naturally beautiful home of Valerio Ricetti, the Hermit of Scenic Hill. Pick up his story at the Visitors' Centre.

At Easter there is much activity in the city streets with the Wine, Food and Cultural celebrations that take place during La Festa. In mid-October each year enjoy Springtime in the Riverina with the Griffith Festival of Gardens, featuring the unique giant citrus sculptures displayed in the main street.

Griffith is a very diverse, prosperous and progressive rural city. It has the lowest unemployment rate in Australia, approximately 89 different languages are spoken here, 95% of Australia's rice is grown here, 70% of NSW's citrus fruit is grown in Griffith, every McDonalds gherkin is grown on one Griffith farm, Bartter Enterprises is Australia's second largest poultry meat supplier. Canola, rockmelons, onions, parsnips, tomatoes, pumpkins, stonefruits, carrots, watermelons, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, you have to see the 'Inland Oasis' to believe it.

The friendly staff at the Griffith Visitors' Centre would love to meet you and welcome you to our great city. We are located at the corner of Banna and Jondaryan Avenues (under the Aeroplane) or can be contacted on 1800 681 141.
